“When we emphasize the idea of belonging in our marketing message, we build our businesses faster.”

Alyssa Light (2:36 - 2:44)

Create a community, not a following.

Are you searching for a way to up your social media game? Alyssa Light, known as “The Profitable Innovator,” has the strategy you need to get the interaction you want. From her many years of experience as a Business Coach and Consultant, she understands the value of authentic marketing and the difference it can make.

“We need to change the social media game. Start engaging by sharing yourself and what you’re doing. The more you do that, the more you connect to others.” - Brooke Elder (25:54 - 26:11)

Although every person might seem to be unique, there’s an underlying similarity between all of us. We all want to feel like we belong. Yet so many of us don’t.

Entrepreneurs have an opportunity to address and alleviate this fundamental human yearning. You can give others a chance to belong to something magnificent through social media!

How to Create Social Media Posts That Invite Others to Join Your Community

Stop writing in paragraphs. Research shows that breaking up your posts into smaller sections, readers are more likely to make it to the end, and they can feel a sense of accomplishment. Leave some space between every sentence or two to make your content easier to read.

Vary your calls to action. You don’t have to sell something every time you present a call to action. There are other alternatives that encourage interaction. You could ask your followers to share their experiences on a specific topic or invite them to share emojis that show how they feel in the moment. Get creative!

Be original. Business owners and influencers often copy and paste other people’s ideas, thoughts, and social media posts. Learn to be original and write your own posts. Share your everyday life, experiences, and struggles—all the stories that remind your audience that you’re just like them.

“A lack of engagement doesn’t equal a lack of interest.”

- Alyssa Light (13:04 - 13:09)

Vulnerability goes a long way. Your willingness to share real stories can connect you to your audience and help you develop an engaged community.

Look back at some of your posts. Analyze the overall messages you’re sharing. Did you get the interaction you were hoping for? What did you get right? What can you do better? It’s easy to get discouraged with social media. But, just because no one responds right away doesn’t mean they’re not interested.

Use storytelling as a way to provide unique and useful content that makes the lives of others a little better each time they engage with you. Eventually, you’ll have a thriving community that can stand behind your message and help you make an even bigger impact.
