Entrepreneur Mindset vs. Employee Mindset

“You are never going to reach your dreams...if you can’t make that shift.”

Tricia Peterson

Today the amazing Tricia Peterson talks to us about the difference between an entrepreneur mindset and an employee mindset. She delves into how to transition from making hobby money into making business money, and it all begins with your mindset. Having a business mindset is more than just working more hours; it starts with changing the way you think.

So, what is the difference between an employee mindset and a business mindset? An employee mindset involves waiting for someone else to tell you what to do. In the network marketing industry, this could be your upline or someone else within your company.

When you have an employee mindset, you never take action on your own because you're waiting for someone to map out each step of the process. You can still be successful. However, this mindset limits your progress because you're waiting for permission from someone else to move forward.

“With an employee mindset, you are going to be capped on how much money you can earn.” - Tricia Peterson

If you have an entrepreneur mindset, you can say and do what you want. You can direct your business in the direction you want it to go.  Rather than depend on your upline, you create and design a system that helps you achieve your business goals and ambitions. You are willing to rely on what you know and pivot or readjust plans depending on your success.

The sky is the limit with an entrepreneur mindset. If you want to be successful, you can't blame anyone or anything outside of you for your lack of success. It always comes back to where you're at and what you're willing to do. If you can take steps to move forward and understand that what your upline recommends doesn't really matter, you'll be successful either way.

Your business all comes down to you how you take control of yourself. So many awesome things can happen when you do. At a young age, societal norms teach you to follow instructions and directions (which isn't all bad). Yet, once you have the opportunity to make your own choices or create a new path, it's easy to flounder because your brain isn't wired to think on its own. Having an entrepreneur mindset is realizing you have abilities or muscles that you can strengthen.

Rather than be stuck in a little box, why not think bigger? You can make the income and impact you’ve always wanted. When you take the wisdom you glean from mentors and others, you can thrive, just tweak them, so they work for you. It takes time, but when you stop and reflect, you can readjust and realign what elements are or aren’t working. This shift takes work, and prolonged effort, so don’t give up in the hustle.

“Who cares if you have a good upline or not? It’s all about you and what you can do because it’s your business.” - Brooke Elder

What's your aim for today? Pick a day where you can reflect and ponder. Think about what things are going well within your business and what things may need an adjustment. Over time, you'll find that your mindset changes. You'll begin to take action and control of your business without waiting for prompts from others. Do this for a month and see how much your business shifts.
